Top 5 Longest Winning Streaks Of The Premier League Era

With Manchester City having just won their tenth league game in a row against Brentford last night, we thought it would be good to look back at the other long winning streaks in Premier League history.

Considering how tough the top-flight of English football is, it is quite some achievement for any team to go on a run of matches without dropping any points.

In fact, our top five actually consists of only three clubs and, remarkably, four of the five longest streaks have taken place in the last four years.

Press the next page as we count down the five longest winning runs in Premier League history.

5) Arsenal – 14 Wins (February to August 2002)

The Gunners won the title in 2002 with a strong finish to the season, which included a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford to secure top spot.

Arsene Wenger’s side continued their winning streak briefly into the 2002/03 season, but their 14 game winning streak came to an end when they drew against West Ham.

4) Manchester City – 15 Wins (February to August 2019)

The Citizens started their run, coincidentally, with a 3-1 win against Arsenal and they went the rest of the season without dropping a single point.

With Liverpool breathing down their necks in the title race, Pep Guardiola’s side knew they couldn’t slip up, and they lifted the league trophy on the final day, finishing on 98 points. Their winning run ended the next season with a 2-2 draw versus Spurs.

3) Liverpool – 17 Wins (March to October 2019)

In the same campaign as City’s 15 match winning streak, the Reds went on a great run of their own. Jurgen Klopp’s men won nine in a row to finish the 2018/19 season but ended up second on 97 points.

However, unlike City, they continued their form into the 2019/20 campaign, winning eight matches in a row before drawing 1-1 against rivals Manchester United.

=1) Liverpool – 18 Wins (October 2019 to February 2020)

Quite ridiculously, the Reds reacted to those dropped points at Old Trafford by going on an even longer winning streak, which pretty much won them the title.

An 18-match run included a victory over title rivals City as well as comebacks against Tottenham and West Ham. Their 19th match was, though, a shock 3-0 defeat to Watford.

=1)Manchester City – 18 Wins(August to December 2017)

While their 18 game streak has since been matched by Liverpool, City were still the first to reach the milestone in 2017, during Pep Guardiola’s second year in charge.

The Citizens started the run with a last-minute winner against Bournemouth. They then recorded a 5-0 win against Liverpool, as well as victories versus Manchester United and Spurs, before a draw away at Crystal Palace on New Year’s Eve ended the streak.
