Every Premier League club is looking for the next big thing. Signing players at a young age for sizeable sums has become commonplace in recent years.

Of course, with some of these youngsters having played very few minutes at senior level, it is difficult to discern which ones will turn into stars.

That is where data analysis comes into the equation. CIES Football Observatory and Impect have recently teamed up to draw up a list of players they have deemed “stars in the making.”

Their rankings combine Impect‘s ‘Expected Threat’ model with CIES’s data on minutes played and which country/league they are based.
