Historically, managers have been paid a lot less than players. One of the key reasons for that is that, while the head coach is ultimately responsible for the team’s fortunes, it is the footballers out on the pitch who deliver the goods.

Over the course of the last ten years, though, that has begun to change. Coaches at the highest level can earn just as much as the top stars.
