TOP FIVE Players With The Most Headed Goals In Premier League History

After taking a look at the players who hold records for most hat tricks and assists in recent weeks, we will now move on to headed goals.

Height is not the only factor, with technique and bravery also playing a big role when it comes to scoring headers.

All five players on our list today are, unsurprisingly, strikers, and they are all well known for their aerial prowess.

Press the next page as we count down the stars with the most headed goals in Premier League history.

5) Romelu Lukaku – 25

Although now much maligned after difficult spells at both Manchester United and Chelsea, the Belgian was a force to be reckoned with at Everton.

In addition to his pace and power, Lukaku used his 6ft 3 frame to put away a number of chances with his head.

4) Olivier Giroud – 32

Considering the Frenchman spent nine years in the Premier League, it is actually surprising to see that he isn’t higher up this list.

Giroud was a strong aerial presence for both Arsenal and Chelsea but he was also excellent at link-up play, with a trusty left foot that was the source of most of his goals.

3) Christian Benteke – 33

The Belgian had a strange career in England. After looking like a world-beater during his time at Aston Villa, he struggled during his spell with Liverpool before switching to Crystal Palace.

Benteke spent six seasons with the Eagles but he only hit double figures in two of those campaigns. His aerial threat was always pretty consistent and he usually put the ball away with his head if he was presented with a chance. His finishing with his feet, though, is another matter entirely.

2) Harry Kane – 36

It’s safe to say that the Tottenham striker will move to the top of this list in the not-too-distant future if he maintains his fitness.

Kane’s total number of goals in the Premier League (at the time of writing) stands at 196 so, while the majority of his scoring is done with his feet, he is a decent header of the ball too.

1) Peter Crouch – 40

At 6ft 7, Crouch was always going to dominate aerial duels, but he did actually struggle with his heading early in his career, before learning to use his height effectively.

The England international had eighteen seasons as a Premier League player so his presence at the top of the list is more to do with longevity than anything else.
