BBC pundit Garth Crooks has included Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez in his Premier League “Team of the Week.”
The 23-year-old scored a spectacular long-range goal to seal a 2-1 win over Fulham at the weekend, and Crooks says that, while the striker is not a regular starter, he always performs well when he plays:
“The Argentina international might not be an automatic selection in the City side but whenever he is called upon by Pep Guardiola he never lets him down.”
Alvarez signed a new contract last month, committing his future to the club until the summer of 2028, so fans can look forward to seeing him score plenty more goals for City over the coming years.
In terms of the rest of the eleven that Crooks selected, he went with Everton’s Jordan Pickford in goal, and a back three of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, Brighton’s Lewis Dunk and Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof.
The midfield comprised of Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard, Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, Bournemouth midfielder Jefferson Lerma and Brighton’s Pascal Gross.
Up front, Alvarez is joined by Brighton striker Denis Undav and Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson.
