City Set Their Sights On Another Brazilian Starlet With 47M Release Clause

Manchester City will follow up the expected signing of Savinho with a move for another Atletico Mineiro youngster, according to reports in the Brazilian media.

Midfielder Yan Philipe has been on the Citizens’ radar for quite a while, having first made an enquiry about the youngster back in December.

At the time, Atletico Mineiro rejected the approach, and with the player tied down to a long-term contract with a €56m (£47m) release clause, it wasn’t believed that there was much hope of getting a deal over the line

However, it is believed that initial discussions have now taken place to sign the 17-year-old and, while no move is believed to be close, it seems there is more optimism that an agreement can be reached.

It is more than likely that the negotiations for Savinho have helped facilitate this second potential transfer. Arsenal and the Red Bull Group were after the forward but City moved quickly to snap up the player, who is expected to cost £5.5m plus add-ons.
