TalkSPORT pundit and former Premier League striker Darren Bent claims Erling Haaland must prove he can score goals over multiple seasons in England before he can be judged as a better player than Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

The Norwegian has already surpassed Henry’s best-scoring season in the league by three goals but, when asked whether the City forward should already be regarded as superior, Bent replied:

“You’d be able to answer that in terms of the Premier League next year. Second season is always the one.”

When pressed on which player he would choose out of Haaland and Henry, Bent was insistent that the former Arsenal forward would still be his choice:

“Henry. Henry, all day, every day. He’s not better than Henry. He’s not a better player than Henry yet, come on. People forget how good Henry was!”

You won’t get many City supporters arguing that Haaland is a better footballer than Henry at the moment but it is already obvious that he is a better goalscorer.

Haaland is on course to break all records with his achievements in front of goal this campaign, and he is doing that at the age of just 22. As his all-round game develops over the coming years, it may be hard for Bent to continue insisting that Henry is the best.
