Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf says he expects German champions Bayern Munich to retain the Champions League trophy this season.

Three English clubs are into the knockout stages of the competition. Manchester City will face Borussia Monchengladbach, Chelsea are up against Atletico Madrid while Liverpool play RB Leipzig. However, Leboeuf feels the Bundesliga giants are the standout candidates:

“Who is going to win the Champions League? Bayern Munich, again/”

It is a tough one to call, at the moment, considering it’s difficult to tell what sort of form the clubs will be in during the second half of the season. Although Gladbach are a good team, you would expect City to progress to the quarter-finals. Liverpool should also have a decent chance, but Chelsea undoubtedly have the toughest draw in Atletico.

The bookies certainly agree with Leboeuf, with Bayern currently the shortest odds at 11/4 among most bookmakers. City remain second-favourites while Liverpool are third, ahead of the likes of Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Chelsea.
