The FIVE Premier League Players Who Have Been Caught Offside The Most Times So Far This Season

After taking a look at the teams who have committed the most fouls in the Premier League last week, we are now turning our focus to offsides.

Getting flagged can be frustrating for a player, but sometimes it is important to play on the edge on the off chance you don’t get caught.

It is not always a deliberate ploy, though, and some of the stars mentioned on this list are probably just lacking discipline in terms of when they are trying to breach the opposition’s defence.

Press the next page as we count down the five players who have been caught offside the most often this season.

5) Adama Traore – 5 Times in 5.1 Games

The Wolves star does have the pace to break the opposing backline but it seems he lacks the know-how in terms of when to make forward runs.

Of course, there is likely to be an element of teams using an offside trap against Traore as they know they wouldn’t be able to catch him if he does get in behind.

3=) Allan Saint-Maximin – 7 Times in 6 Games

You could make the same comment about the Frenchman as about Traore. Considering he is lightning quick, there really isn’t any need for him to flirt with the offside flag.

Newcastle do play on the counter-attack, though, so the teams that they face may have a higher than usual defensive line, which may catch out Saint-Maximin.

3=) Raul Jimenez – 7 Times in 6 Games

The Mexican isn’t blessed with a great deal of pace and, combined with the fact that he is still getting up to speed following a serious injury, it is not that surprising to see him so high up this list.

With Jimenez having gotten his first goal of the season last weekend, it is expected that he will begin to get a lot sharper in the final third after such a confidence boost.

2) Jamie Vardy – 7 Times in 5.9 Games

This one isn’t a shock at all. While the Leicester striker is still very quick at 34 years of age, he is a player who is constantly looking to beat the offside flag.

Vardy is generally very successful at doing it but there are, inevitably, occasions where he gets caught out. It is just part of his game that has served him very well over the years.

1) Chris Wood – 9 Times in 5.7 Games

The Burnley target man clearly isn’t the most mobile of players, and that seems to lead to him being flagged more often than other players in the Premier League.

Wood may want to work on staying onside a bit more often, considering he has only scored once so far this campaign.
