Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker says Johns Stones and Raheem Sterling were the ones that persuaded him to make the move to the Etihad in 2017.

The 32-year-old has won eleven trophies over the past five and a half seasons. However, the Citizens had finished below Spurs in the Premier League table when the opportunity arose to join the Manchester club. In making his decision, Walker said he relied on the advice he was given by Stones and Sterling:

“I spoke to John and I spoke to Raheem about Pep’s philosophy and what he was like as a person to work under. I had a great relationship with Pochettino and Tottenham were building a great philosophy at the time, but I spoke to John and I spoke to Raz and that set in stone that I wanted to come to work under this manager at this great football club.”

Stones moved to City a year earlier than Walker and they have remained teammates ever since. Sterling, meanwhile, has only recently ended his association with the Premier League champions, having moved to Chelsea for £47.5m last summer.

Walker, himself, cost £50m when he made the switch to Manchester but he has been an outstanding servant for the Citizens, having been a regular starter at right-back, with manager Pep Guardiola placing a great deal of trust in him.
