Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has spoken to RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol ahead of the player’s potential move to the Etihad, according to reports in France.
It has been claimed that the Citizens are prepared to pay up to €110m (£94m) for the Croatian international, with a 20% sell-on clause, and things have already reached the stage where Guardiola has got involved.
Supporters on Twitter are very surprised to hear that City are going all out to sign Gvardiol, with many very sceptical about the source for the story:

Is it me or is this not a bit bizarre considering the centre backs at City. Ake, Akanji, Dias, Stones and Laporte are all playing well. Genuinely find the link baffling

This is fake the Club is not going to buy another Center Back while they already have 5 players in that position.

It’s probably wise to be cautious about these latest claims. Respected sources in England and Germany have not confirmed that City have made a formal approach so fans are right to raise an eyebrow.
While Gvardiol is an outstanding young prospect, the Premier League champions are not exactly short of centre-backs, so shelling out a club-record fee would be a massive surprise.
