City Among The Favourites To Secure Deal For £43m Rated Italian Playmaker

Manchester City are one of three clubs monitoring Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo, according to reports in the Italian media.

Real Madrid and Juventus are also interested in the 19-year-old with the player expected to command a fee of €50m (£43m) or above.

Roma are said to be determined to keep hold of one of their prized assets, who they signed for only £4m from Inter Milan last summer.

They are currently locked in talks over a new contract with the player but there is a feeling that Zaniolo could be offloaded if the Giallorossi fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.

The Serie A side are seventh in the table, four points behind AC Milan in the final Champions League place. With the Rossoneri, Atalanta, Torino and city rivals Lazio all in contention, competition is fierce for a top-four finish.

This season, Zaniolo has made 30 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals and providing two assists. He has also made his debut for Italy’s senior side, making his first appearance against Finland last month.
