Manchester City have decided against appealing Rodri’s red card against Nottingham Forest last weekend.
The Spanish international was sent off after an altercation with Morgan Gibbs-White, and he will now be suspended for the next three domestic fixtures.
Fans on X agree that Rodri’s ban would not have been overturned anyway, and they are happy for him to be given a rest, even if he misses some big games:
Rightly so.

Wouldn’t have won so what’s the point.
Rodri gets a 3 game rest, the squad learn a lesson and it’s about time others stepped up and helped share the responsibility that’s on Rodri’s shoulders.

Rodri will be a big miss for the Arsenal match
The 27-year-old serves the first match of his three-game ban against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
Rodri will also sit out the next Premier League fixture versus Wolves this weekend. However, the midfielder is available to face RB Leipzig in the Champions League but he will be ineligible for the match against Arsenal before the international break.
City will have to rely on Phillips
Manager Pep Guardiola has been championing the cause of Kalvin Phillips following the news that Rodri will be suspended.
The England international has rarely started since joining the Premier League champions from Leeds for £42m at the start of last season. However, the midfielder could be a pivotal figure in the club’s progress across three different competitions over the next couple of weeks. Guardiola will be hoping that he is up to the task.
