Manchester City are expected to enter the race to sign Ajax winger Antony, according to reports in the Italian media.

It has been claimed in recent days that Erik ten Hag is keen on bringing the Brazilian international with him if he becomes Manchester United manager, while Liverpool have also been linked in recent months.

From the looks of things, though, it appears as if City could make their own move for Antony, as manager Pep Guardiola looks to reinforce his options on the right flank.

Riyad Mahrez has been in excellent form this season but, with his contract set to expire in 2023, a replacement may need to be found for the Algerian.

Antony’s skillset is pretty similar to Mahrez’s. He prefers playing on the right wing, cutting in onto his stronger left foot, whilst utilising his speed and trickery.

Ajax are not expected to make the 22-year-old available for a low price, though, with it being reported that he could cost as much as €60m (£51m) to €70m (£59m).
