Manchester City fullback Kyle Walker has taken to Instagram to wish Cole Palmer the best for the future after he joined Chelsea.

The attacking midfielder sealed his £40m (plus £5m in add-ons) transfer on Deadline Day and Walker has written an emotional goodbye message to his former teammate:

“Although I’m sad to see you leave City, I wish you nothing but happiness and success in the next chapter of your life. You have sat next to me in the Etihad changing rooms from the start of your arrival into the first team and I have seen you grow & develop from a boy to a man.”

“Don’t stop learning and striving to be the best you can be and will be my little brother.”

City Supporters are not happy with Palmer’s departure

After impressing in the Community Shield and UEFA Super Cup finals, fans were hoping that the 21-year-old would stay at the Etihad and become a fixture in the first team.

When the club decided to sell Palmer to a rival, many were not particularly happy about the decision. However, the midfielder wanted more game time, and the Premier League champions were seemingly happy to cash in.

Walker is set to stay at City

While Palmer has left the Manchester club, his friend and ex-teammate Walker is expected to extend his stay with the treble winners.

Earlier in the summer, it looked like the England international was poised to make a switch to Bayern Munich, with it being reported that he had verbally agreed to the transfer.

However, after further talks with manager Pep Guardiola, the fullback made a U-turn. His contract is still set to expire at the end of this season but it is believed that he will put pen to paper on an extension in the near future.
