REPORT: City Are Targeting ‘Potential £150M Rated Star’ Who Could ‘Play Alongside’ Haaland In Attack

Manchester City are keeping tabs on Brighton striker Evan Ferguson, according to I News.

The website claims that the 18-year-old, who they describe as a “potential £150m rated star”, is being watched by the Premier League champions following his eye-catching displays at the start of this season for the Seagulls.

Ferguson could potentially be a replacement if Erling Haaland were to leave the Etihad for Real Madrid, but there is also a chance that the Republic of Ireland international could “play alongside” the City forward.

That is very possible, considering that manager Pep Guardiola has gone with two strikers this campaign, with Julian Alvarez partnering Haaland in attack.

A bid for Ferguson is unlikely to be made any time soon, though, but it is definitely something that fans should keep an eye on.

Ferguson has started the season in outstanding form

The Irishman got off the mark in his first game of the campaign, scoring the fourth in the 4-1 win over Luton Town on the opening day.

After drawing blanks in his next two appearances against Wolves and West Ham, Ferguson then bagged a hat-trick versus Newcastle last weekend.

City will have to battle rival Premier League teams if they pursue Ferguson

I News claim that a “clutch of elite clubs” are following Ferguson’s development. The teenager has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United in the past and there are likely to be plenty of others monitoring his situation.

Of course, a lot depends on who is willing to negotiate with Brighton. City showed with Marc Cucurella last summer that they are not prepared to overpay for players from the south coast club. However, Ferguson is unlikely to be available on the cheap, especially if he continues on his current trajectory.
