‘There’s Better Teams For Him’ ‘He Should Not Go’ Fans React To Reports That City Player Could Join United

Manchester City fans have been discussing rumours that Kalvin Phillips is a target for Manchester United.

It was reported by English tabloid The Sun earlier this week that the Red Devils could make a move for the England international, although those claims have since been played down.

Fans on X believe Phillips deserves to play for a team who have a better chance of winning silverware than their Manchester rivals:

Guardiola has admitted that he doesn’t rate Phillips

At the weekend, manager Pep Guardiola gave his honest verdict on whether the midfielder has a future at the Etihad Stadium. He said that the midfielder will find it difficult to get into the starting lineup if he doesn’t leave in January:

“It’s just because I visualise some things and visualise the team and things – and I struggle to see him. I’m not very pleased [with myself] and I am so sorry for him. I will not say that [to him] because it is a business and I have to be a professional.”

Two clubs are favourites to sign the City player

Reports in the Italian media have claimed that Phillips has a preference for Juventus, with the Serie A club having guaranteed him starting opportunities. Newcastle are the other team who are prepared to push the boat out for the 28-year-old.

Liverpool have also been mentioned as potential suitors but they are not expected to make a bid for the former Leeds player next month.
