Fastest Players In The 2022/23 Premier League Season

Kyle Walker is one of the fastest players in the Premier League.

The Premier League season has now concluded. As the dust settles, let’s take a look at the quickest players in the league last season who really whipped up a storm.

We’ll be looking at players from clubs such as Newcastle United, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City in this list. Can you guess who they are?

The likes of Darwin Nunez, Erling Haaland and Reiss Nelson all managed to break into the top ten – but none of them will feature on this particular list.

For this post, we will be looking at data provided by TalkSPORT. The data will examine the top sprint speed of all players in the Premier League, measured in kilometres per hour.

Anthony Gordon

The fourth-fastest player in the Premier League last season was Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon, who clocked a maximum sprint speed of 36.61kmph.

For all his quickness, Gordon ultimately failed to impress for both Everton and Newcastle last season. He became unpopular with Everton supporters towards the end of his Toffees spell and did little to redeem himself at St. James’ Park.

Regardless, aged just 22, Gordon still has his whole career ahead of him. He has shown bursts of major potential – but will he live up to it?

Mykhailo Mudryk

Another player who perhaps didn’t live up to expectations last season – despite Mykhailo Mudryk’s underwhelming debut campaign in the Premier League, he nevertheless was allowed to flaunt his pace.

According to the data, Mudryk’s maximum sprint speed clocked in at a lightning-quick 36.63kmph – even if he had scored no goals to show for it.

Mudryk may have had a tough season in his first Premier League year since he joined Chelsea in January, but he could get a new lease of life under Mauricio Pochettino.

Brennan Johnson

This may be a surprise inclusion for some – but anyone who watched Brennan Johnson last season will know exactly how explosive his pace is.

According to TalkSPORT, Johnson’s top sprint speed last season clocked in at an impressive 36.7kmph, just ahead of Mudryk in third place.

He was one of Nottingham Forest’s saving graces last season, as Steve Cooper’s men had to battle valiantly in order to avoid relegation – he scored eight goals in 38 league games.

Kyle Walker

Kyle Walker has always been known for his blistering pace – it has gotten him out of jail on countless occasions. Nevertheless, it speaks volumes that he has been able to maintain it this late in his career.

Walker was statistically the fastest player in the Premier League last season, despite being 33 years of age – his maximum sprint speed was recorded at 37.31kmph.

Last season was undoubtedly the greatest in Walker’s career, as he played a major role in guiding Manchester City to an historic treble.
