Haaland’s Stance On City Move Is Revealed As Journalist Makes Big Claim About Who Is Favourite To Sign Goal Machine

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is aware of Manchester City’s interest in him but the player “prefers” a move to Real Madrid, according to Marca journalist Mario Cortegana.

The Spanish reporter claims the Norwegian believes City will make a move for him, although the forward seems to be favouring a switch to the Bernabeu at this stage:

“Haaland has not made a definitive decision yet. The player prefers to go to Real Madrid, as he has told various people close to him. Haaland has told people in his entourage that he is very attracted by the possibility of Real Madrid, its grandeur, the premiere of the completely remodelled stadium at Christmas 2022. Haaland has commented on the departures to FC Barcelona and the Premier League, too. He has assumed that he has the Premier League giants after him, and Guardiola’s team (Manchester City) are looking for a striker.”

It should be pointed out that Cortegana mainly reports on Real Madrid so he is likely to angle his reports in favour of the La Liga side. With that in mind, you have to take what he says about Haaland’s favoured destination with a large pinch of salt.

More reliable sources in the UK earlier this week did, however, confirm that the 21-year-old is City’s number one striker target, although the Premier League champions have been looking at potential alternatives if competition for Haaland proves to be too fierce.

In addition to Real Madrid and Barcelona, the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have all been mentioned as other potential suitors.
