Mark Lawrenson Makes City Claim As He Says Title Race Is “Foregone Conclusion”

Former BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson says he can’t see Manchester City slipping up in their final four Premier League fixtures.

Pep Guardiola’s side face Wolves on Saturday evening as they look to keep up the pace with Arsenal at the top of the table but, speaking to Paddy Power, Lawrenson claims the Cityzens are very much on course to seal yet another league title:

“I see the title race as a forgone conclusion that Manchester City will win. Their fixtures are better than Arsenal’s, and they don’t really slip up [at this stage of the season]. Their whole squad is fit, and they can change the team if they need to.

“The big fella upfront [Erling Haaland] looks like he’s back scoring and Kevin de Bruyne looks like he’s at 99%. I just see them winning. They’re serial winners and to win it four times in a row is just a spectacular achievement, especially considering all the other games that they’re involved in.”

City do have a fully fit squad

As Lawrenson mentions, the reigning champions don’t have any fitness concerns heading into the Wolves fixture. Guardiola confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon that he should have a fully-fit squad of players to choose from.

Phil Foden has recovered from an illness that prevented him from featuring against Nottingham Forest in the 2-0 win last weekend. Ruben Dias is also back, having also felt unwell before the game on Sunday.

Ederson, meanwhile, appeared to have suffered a serious shoulder injury at the City Ground, having to be substituted at half-time following a clash with Willy Boly. The Brazilian was pictured in a sling after the match but Guardiola has revealed the keeper trained on Thursday and “feels good”.

Who do City still have to play this season?

After the Wolves fixture, Guardiola’s men take on Fulham at Craven Cottage in the lunchtime kickoff next weekend.

The Cityzens then have to play Tottenham away from home in the midweek before the final day. They finish off their league campaign with a home fixture against West Ham.
