Manchester City are weighing up a move for Sporting Lisbon holding midfielder Matheus Nunes, according to reports in the Portuguese media.
The 23-year-old has a €60m (£50m) release clause but it is believed that he could be sold for around the £25m to £30m mark during the summer transfer window.
City are not the only team interested in Nunes, with the likes of Tottenham, Wolves, Everton and Newcastle having also been linked in recent days, and fans on Twitter are debating whether the Portuguese international would be worth a gamble:

He was very good in the game against City. Even Citys press couldnt get a hold of him. He looked very comfortable on the ball.

Manager Pep Guardiola was very impressed by Nunes, despite the Citizens thrashing Sporting 5-0 on Tuesday evening, stating the midfielder is “one of the best players in the world today.” That is some compliment and explains why City are seemingly so keen on the player.
Whether the Premier League champions actually need another midfielder like him, though, it is debatable. Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Fernandinho can all play in the middle of the park so he’d do well to make an impression if he does make the switch to the Etihad at the end of the season.
