Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan had an excellent game despite the Citizens failing to secure a win against West Bromwich Albion last night.
The German international is usually the first to be criticised by some sections of the fanbase, but he was the team’s most influential player, scoring the opening goal, dictating play with his passing, as well as having a late chance saved by Baggies keeper Sam Johnstone.
City fans on Twitter are still disappointed with the performance versus West Brom but many feel Gundogan deserves some recognition for the display he put in yesterday:
Sigh this masterclass for nothing

Gundogan was by far the best player for the Citizens but there were a number of his teammates who failed to meet the standards expected of them. Although the home side did create chances, the failure to put the ball in the back of the net has become a big problem for Pep Guardiola’s side this season. It will be hoped that the return of Sergio Aguero will help them in that regard.
