Michael Owen Makes His Prediction For The Manchester Derby

BT Sport pundit Michael Owen is expecting a tight game when Manchester City travel to Old Trafford to face United in the derby tomorrow.

The Citizens are going into the game off the back of a Carabao Cup final win, but while Owen thinks that Pep Guardiola’s men will head into the match this weekend high in confidence, he doesn’t think they’ll get the three points:

“Manchester City travel across Manchester for their derby clash with United in the match of the weekend. They’ll be in a confident mood heading to Old Trafford but from the three matches between the sides this season, Manchester United have already won two. However, in what is sure to be a closely fought contest, I think the bragging rights will be shared with a goal and a point apiece.”

Owen has gone for a 1-1 in his score prediction, and whether his previous association with United has influenced his thinking on the matter, we shall have to wait and see.

City dominated the Carabao Cup semi-final fixture in the same venue at the start of January, but United do now pose an added threat following the signing of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon.

Whether the Portuguese international’s presence will be enough to balance the scales between the two teams, though, it is debatable. We will certainly find out more tomorrow evening.
