Manchester City supporters are surprised that Manuel Akanji has been left out of WhoScored.com’s Team of the Week after his excellent performance in the Manchester derby.
Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland and Phil Foden all made it into the eleven, but the omission of Akanji has left a few fans on Twitter fuming:

City may have conceded three goals against Manchester United but Akanji can hardly be blamed for Antony scoring from a long shot and Joao Cancelo giving away a penalty.
Perhaps, it could be argued that Akanji could have done more to prevent Fred from shooting before Antony Martial made it 6-2, but that was a very minor blot on the copybook.
In terms of who else actually made into WhoScored’s team, Leeds goalkeeper Islan Meslier, Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier, Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva, Brentford’s Ben Mee and Everton fullback Vitaly Mykolenko made up the backline.
Brighton’s Leandro Trossard and Leicester’s playmaker James Maddison joined De Bruyne and Foden in midfield, while Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino rounds up the eleven with Haaland.
