REPORT: City Complete The Signing Of ‘New Dani Alves’ For £5m

Manchester City have completed the signing of Coritiba right-back Yan Couto, according to the Gazeta Do Povo. The local newspaper claims that the Citizens have paid €6m (£5m) upfront for the 17-year-old.

Coritiba do not have a sell-on clause, but they have reportedly agreed another €6m (£5m) in add-ons which are dependent on appearances in the Premier League and Champions League.

City are believed to have beaten the likes of Barcelona and Arsenal to the signing of Couto who has been hailed as the “new Dani Alves” by some sections of the press.

The fullback starred at last year’s Under 17 World Cup as Brazil won the tournament in their home country. He played a crucial role in the final against Mexico, providing the assist for Lazaro to score the winning goal deep into injury time.

Couto is not expected to be part of City’s first team straight away, but they have seemingly secured one of the brightest young talents in the game.
