SIX Premier League Clubs Among The TOP 10 Biggest Spenders In The Summer Transfer Window

After looking at the net spend of all 20 Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window last week, we have moved our focus towards the biggest spenders across Europe.

Unsurprisingly, a number of English teams make the top 10, with the revenues from TV rights helping them to soften the impact caused by the global health crisis.

The actual total amount invested in transfers has gone down but, even so, all of the sides who made this list spent over £50m.

Press the next page as we count down the heaviest spending clubs in Europe this summer.

10) West Ham (£64m)

The Hammers hadn’t spent that much until the final few days of the transfer window but a late flurry of activity saw them sign Kurt Zouma, Nikola Vlasic and Alex Kral.

9) Rennes (£68m)

The Ligue One side lost Eduardo Camavinga to Real Madrid but they reinvested the money in young players, including Kamaldeen Sulemana and Lovro Majer.

8) Paris Saint-Germain (£71m)

PSG were shrewd in the transfer market by signing Gianluigi Donnarumma, Georginio Wijnaldum, Sergo Ramos and Lionel Messi on free transfers. However, they still spent big on Inter Milan’s Achraf Hakimi.

7) Roma (£84m)

New manager Jose Mourinho was backed in the transfer market, with the Giallorossi bringing in the likes of Tammy Abraham and Rui Patricio.

6) Aston Villa (£91m)

The Villans anticipated the departure of Jack Grealish to Manchester City by snapping up players such as Emi Buendia, Leon Bailey and Danny Ings.

5) RB Leipzig (£93m)

The Bundesliga club sold a number of high profile players this summer, allowing them to sign Andre Silva, Ilaix Moriba, Josko Gvardiol and Mohamed Simakan.

4) Chelsea (£103.5m)

Thomas Tuchel’s side only really spent big on the record purchase of Romelu Lukaku, while they also had to pay a loan fee for Saul Niguez.

3) Manchester City (£110m)

Fans were disappointed that the Premier League champions were not able to bring in Harry Kane, but City secured the British record signing of Jack Grealish, as well the promising young Brazilian Kayky.

2) Manchester United (£120m)

The Red Devils brought in the likes of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo to strengthen their first eleven, as they look to mount a serious title challenge.

1) Arsenal (£142.5m)

The Gunners have invested a lot in potential. It remains to be seen whether shelling out on players such as Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale and Albert Sambi Lokonga will work out.
