Manchester City will only demand €25m (£21.5m) for Ilkay Gundogan in the summer, according to reports in Italy.
Inter Milan are said to be interested in the 28-year-old with the midfielder unwilling to sign a new deal at the Etihad Stadium.
Gundogan’s current contract expires in 2020 and will be available on a free transfer in just over 12 months time, leading City to seek buyers for the German.
Fans on Twitter are unhappy that the club are not seeking a larger transfer fee:
That is way too low

Too little for him! He’s an unique kind of midfielder. Will be difficult to replace

What was the expectation for a soon to be 29 y.o. player bought at 21M and with a year left on his contract?
— FCBarca (@FCBarca) 15 April 2019
Given his great form, now entering his prime years you’d think £30M at least…

Let him go if he’s not committed, personally think we can do a lot better anyway although he’s been a lot better last couple of months he’s nothing special

Cheap in my opinion .

What’s the point of selling at that price why not just take the extra year of him as a player at the club it’s more valuable than that kind of money.

25m for a player of that quality, experience and intelligence is a steal/bargain I’m today’s market. ?

Pretty sure Eriksen is gunna go for 60m+ and he’s only got a year left, gundo has to go for more

One of the big considerations is Gundogan’s age. The player turns 29 in October, and it means you can’t compare him to similar deals like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s move to Liverpool and Ross Barkley’s move to Chelsea.
Both players were 25 when they were sold and therefore had a greater sell-on value. It meant Arsenal were able to get £35m for Chamberlain with a year left on his deal at the Emirates while Everton received £15m for Barkley with six months to go.
