The Top FIVE Worst Performing Players In The Premier League So Far This Season (According To WhoScored)

The Premier League season is now in full swing, with eight matches having been played since the new campaign kicked off back in August.

WhoScored has been keeping tabs on the displays of each individual player and today we will be looking at the stars who have performed the worst so far.

For fairness, our list only comprises those players who have started at least five of the eight games, making sure there is a decent sample size to gauge performances.

Press the next page as we count down the five worst-performing players in the top flight so far this season.

5) Jack Harrison (Leeds) – 6.31

Leeds snapped up the winger on a permanent basis from Manchester City for £11m back in July but he has been struggling, much like the rest of the Leeds team, this campaign.

Harrison has failed to score or provide a single assist in six appearances for Marcelo Bielsa’s side in the Premier League. He did fare better in the Carabao Cup, though, scoring twice in a 3-0 win over Crewe back in August.

4) Tim Krul (Norwich) – 6.31

Considering how poor the Canaries have been defensively, it is not a surprise to see the Dutchman on this list, but his performances are hardly helping Norwich’s cause.

Krul has the third-worst save percentage (59.5%) of any goalkeeper in the top flight so far this season, which reflects both his poor shot-stopping and the fact that Daniel Farke’s men tend to give away quite a few clear cut chances.

3) Junior Firpo (Leeds) – 6.29

The Dominican Republic international has struggled for form since moving from Barcelona for £15m at the start of July. He is an attacking fullback by trade, so his defensive deficiencies were to be expected.

However, Firpo hasn’t offered anything in the final third either this campaign, having no goals or assists to his name so far.

2) Teemu Pukki (Norwich) – 6.25

The Finnish international has actually scored twice in eight Premier League appearances but his all-round game has been rated as particularly poor by WhoScored.

It seems that while Pukki is getting on the scoresheet for Norwich, he is not really contributing in any other area of the pitch.

1) Craig Cathcart (Watford) – 6.18

It appears that time may well be catching up with the 32-year-old centre-back. The Northern Irishman played the full 90 minutes as Watford conceded five goals in their last league match against Liverpool.

The Hornets haven’t done that much better in the other five games that Cathcart has started in, having conceded seven goals.
