TOP FIVE Up And Coming Players Who Could Shine In The 2023/24 Premier League Season

Andrey Santos

With just a couple of weeks to go before the start of the new Premier League campaign, we have decided to look at the most promising youngsters who could have a breakthrough year.

We will be profiling some teenagers who have turned heads in pre-season, while others have been out on loan elsewhere and returned to their parent clubs with something to prove.

While all five players on our list today have had limited minutes in the Premier League, they do possess the potential to make a big impression if handed opportunities by their teams.

Press the next page as we look at five up-and-coming players who could star for their clubs this season.

Carlos Borges

The Manchester City winger is set to complete a £14m move to West Ham, where he would have the chance of making waves at senior level.

Borges has not yet played a first-team game but his performances for City at youth level have been eye-catching.

The Portuguese ace has five goals and six assists in seven appearances for City in the UEFA Youth League.

On top of that, Borges has averaged more than one goal or assist per game at both Under 17 and Under 21 level.

James McAtee

The 20-year-old has the most experience of senior football on this list. He was loaned out by Manchester City to Sheffield United last season, playing an important role in getting them promoted back to the top flight.

McAtee could potentially remain at the Etihad this campaign and become a squad player under manager Pep Guardiola, but there is significant interest in the player.

The Blades, unsurprisingly, want him back at Bramall Lane while, another newly-promoted side, Burnley, would like to loan him as well.

If he stays at City or leaves on a temporary basis again, though, he will almost certainly be playing Premier League football this year.

Kobbie Mainoo

The teenager has been Manchester United’s standout performer in pre-season, having impressed manager Erik ten Hag in friendlies against Leeds and Lyon.

However, Mainoo did suffer an ankle injury in the 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid midweek, and it remains to be seen how long he will be out for.

Considering how well the 18-year-old has been playing, it would be very disappointing if he misses the start of the season.

Ten Hag has, though, said that Mainoo will remain part of his first-team plans when he returns to fitness.

Andrey Santos

Due to work permit problems, Santos was loaned back to Brazil after being signed from Vasco da Gama during the January transfer window.

After impressing at the Under 20 World Cup, Santos has returned to London this summer with every intention of being part of the first team setup.

The midfielder now qualifies for a visa, and he has featured prominently in pre-season for the Blues.

The Brazilian is clearly a very talented young player and many expect him to thrive if he is given opportunities by manager Mauricio Pochettino this campaign.

Oscar Bobb

Like Mainoo, Bobb has been turning heads in pre-season, having performed well in City’s first friendly against Yokohama F Marinos.

At 20 years of age, the Norwegian is primed to make his first competitive senior appearance. Whether it will be at City, though, it remains to be seen.

The attacking midfielder has been linked with Brighton in recent days, who would like to sign him on a permanent basis.

It has been claimed, however, that the Citizens won’t let Bobb leave even if a club offers £15m for the player.
