The 5 Worst Home Records In The Premier League This Season

A strong home record is the key to making sure a club has a good season in any top-flight league.

Without picking up results on your own turf, the likelihood of success is greatly diminished.

It is not a surprise, therefore, that the teams that make up our list today are not having great campaigns in the Premier League.

Press the next page as we count down the five clubs with the worst home records (after 12 games played).

5) Crystal Palace – 5 pts

Eagles boss Roy Hodgson does tend to set up his team in such a way that means they are more liable to get results on the road, rather than at home.

Palace’s record at Selhurst Park has seen them pick up one solitary win so far; which came against Wolves all the way back at the start of September.

Hodgson’s side have also secured two 0-0 draws versus Fulham and Nottingham Forest, whilst being beaten by Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton.

It’s telling that Palace have actually racked up double the amount of points away from their own ground.

=3) Everton – 4 Pts

Goodison Park is historically seen as a tough stadium to visit for away teams.

However, Everton have struggled to pick up points at home this season, mostly because they have found it difficult to score goals.

The Toffees have hit the back of the net just five times in six matches, with three of those coming in the same game versus Bournemouth back in October.

That remains their only victory at home in the league, having also drawn against Brighton, and lost to Fulham, Arsenal, Wolves and Luton Town.

=3) Sheffield United – 4 Pts

Considering that the Blades had one single point after ten games, it’s actually an achievement that they don’t top this list.

Paul Heckingbottom’s team won their last fixture at Bramall Lane, beating Wolves after a controversial last-minute penalty, which James McAtee slotted away.

Their only other point on their home patch came back in September when they drew 2-2 with Everton.

United have lost their 4 other fixtures, including a humiliating 8-0 defeat to Newcastle United.

2) Luton Town – 2 Pts

Not many pundits gave the Hatters a chance of staying up after being promoted through the playoffs last season.

Their stadium Kenilworth Road actually needed renovation work to meet the standards required by the Premier League so Rob Edwards’ men didn’t play at home in the league until September 1st.

It hasn’t been a happy hunting ground so far, with just two solitary draws accrued. One was against Wolves, but the other was a very credible point versus Liverpool.

The home team was leading deep into added time before a Luis Diaz header for the Reds meant the spoils were shared.

1) Burnley – 0 Pts

The Championship winners have had an awful start to the season at Turf Moor.

Six consecutive home defeats is the worst run that any top-flight team has had at the beginning of the campaign.

Vincent Kompany has seen his side lose to the likes of Manchester City, Aston Villa, Tottenham, Manchester United, Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

Many felt that the Clarets were very unlucky to lose to the Eagles last time out but they remain on 0 home points as we near the end of November.
