RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano has decided against signing a new contract and is set to leave the Bundesliga club in the summer, according to reports in the German media.
The Frenchman’s current deal expires in 2021 and he reportedly has his heart set on a move to the Premier League. Arsenal and Manchester City have been linked with the 21-year-old in recent months, and supporters on Twitter have had a mixed reaction to a possible bid for the centre-back:
Just make this happen. Would be an awesome signing

Watched him against Bayern on Sunday. Thought he looked great till he did an Otamendi and took out Lewandowski to give away a pen.

The Citizens have been missing a leader at the back, with a commanding presence, and while Upamecano is a massive talent, it appears a lot of fans would prefer the club move for someone who has more experience at the highest level.
Despite having made 72 appearances in the Bundesliga, the France Under 21 international is still a relatively inexperienced defender, and even though he does have potential, you would think that City will be looking for the finished article in the summer.
