REPORT: City ‘Impressed’ After Watching Ukrainian Playmaker But 3 Other PL Clubs Are Also Pursuing Him

Manchester City are weighing up a move for Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Georgiy Sudakov, according to TEAMTalk.

The 21-year-old is believed to have “impressed” club scouts when they have watched the playmaker in action for both club and country.

As well as standing out for Shakhtar, Sudakov caught the eye when playing against England for Ukraine last month. He also scored his first goal at international level at the weekend, during a 2-0 win over North Macedonia.

TEAMtalk claim that City are, by no means, the only team keeping tabs on the midfielder. Juventus, in particular, have made preliminary enquiries ahead of the January transfer window.

However, the biggest challenge for Sudakov’s signature may come from other Premier League sides.

City could be joined by 3 English clubs in the race to snap up the Ukrainian

Arsenal are known to have kept an eye on Sudakov for quite some time, while Chelsea have been alerted to his talents by Mykhailo Mudryk, who has recommended that the Blues take a look at him.

Brighton have also been watching the player, with Roberto De Zerbi having previously managed Shakhtar.

Sudakov does seem like a good fit for City’s style of play

Manager Pep Guardiola is a big fan of technicians who are dynamic, fleet-footed and able to pick out a pass. Sudakov ticks all the boxes in that regard.

Whether his lack of experience would count against him, it remains to be seen. He has made 75 senior appearances in his professional career already; 12 of which have come in the Champions League.

Sudakov is probably a player for the future, rather than necessarily ready to play in the Premier League right away, but he could be a suitable long-term replacement for someone like Bernardo Silva.
