City Weighing Up Shock Raid On Premier League Rival For 72M Forward

Manchester City are keeping tabs on Chelsea forward Kai Havertz, according to reports in the UK.

The German international broke City fans’ hearts when he scored the winner against them in the 2021 Champions League final but he has struggled for form over the last twelve months.

Havertz has started eleven matches in all competitions so far this season, having made 14 appearances in total, but he’s bagged just two goals and he hasn’t contributed a single assist.

It’s claimed that Chelsea are looking to revamp their frontline, with it being suggested that manager Graham Potter could recruit the likes of AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku and, potentially, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

If a number of forwards are signed either in January or at the end of the season, it could leave Havertz some way down the pecking order. For a player that cost £72m, that would not be a sustainable situation.

A departure from Stamford Bridge is, therefore, possible but whether Chelsea would agree to sell to a direct rival, it is up for debate. Relations are good between the two clubs after the Citizens sold Raheem Sterling to the Blues last summer so don’t rule anything out.
