The TOP FIVE Bookies’ Favourites To Be Relegated From The Premier League This Season

Kenilworth Road

With the new Premier League season just around the corner, we have decided to assess the likeliest teams to be relegated.

Staying in the English top flight requires a lot of financial investment, as well as having a talented coach who can get the best out of their squad.

Our list today consists of clubs who have either not been active in the transfer market or where there are doubts about the abilities of their managers.

Press the next page as we count down the five favourites for relegation (based on odds from Sky Bet).

5) Everton – 11/4

The Toffees have not spent any money so far this summer, which is raising alarm bells on Merseyside.

Manager Sean Dyche has only brought in veteran Ashley Young on a free transfer, as well as Arnaut Danjuma on loan so far.

After narrowly avoiding the drop last season, fans are fearing another battle against relegation, unless they can strengthen the squad between now and September 1st.

Dyche is a very good manager but he is not a miracle worker, so expect Everton to struggle once again.

4) Bournemouth – 5/2

The Cherries have been pretty busy in the transfer market in recent months but a lot of the uncertainty about their Premier League status is down to the club’s decision to change manager.

It was a shock when Gary O’Neil was sacked after guiding Bournemouth to a 15th-place finish last season.

His replacement, Spaniard Andoni Iraola, is an unknown in this country, and that has clearly influenced the bookmaker’s odds.

Iraola impressed during his four-year stint at La Liga side Rayo Vallecano but there are no guarantees he can replicate that success in English football.

3) Nottingham Forest – 9/4

Forest finished below Bournemouth in the table last campaign so it is not entirely surprising that they feature above the Cherries amongst the favourites for relegation.

Steve Cooper did well to manage the massive influx of players last year, which saw an entire new first-team squad brought in.

Things have been quieter this summer, with only one real high-profile signing in Anthony Elanga from Manchester United.

They may need more investment in the squad to improve their chances of survival for a second successive season.

2) Sheffield United – 4/6 odds-on

You do have to feel pretty sorry for Blades boss Paul Heckingbottom. It’s been a pretty trying summer for the Yorkshire club.

United have lost, arguably, their best player in Iliman Ndiaye, who has left to join Ligue One side Marseille.

Due to the financial restrictions, the club have struggled to improve the squad that secured automatic promotion from the Championship last season.

With James McAtee and Tommy Doyle having returned to Manchester City after their loan spells as well, Heckingbottom doesn’t have a great deal of depth either.

1) Luton Town – 4/11 odds-on

With Kenilworth Road currently not up to Premier League standards, the Hatters will be playing away from home until the international break.

That is certainly not helpful for a newly promoted team, especially one that has to do a lot of work to improve the squad in preseason too.

Luton have managed to secure the services of Marvelous Nakamba on a permanent basis, whilst they have also recruited Issa Kabore, Ryan Giles, Tahith Chong and Mads Andersen.

However, manager Rob Edwards has a mammoth task on his hands trying to avoid the drop.
