Kyle Walker Makes Phil Foden Claim As He Compares Him To Chelsea Star

Manchester City fullback Kyle Walker has admitted that Chelsea’s Mason Mount is a better set-piece taker than Phil Foden, but he believes his City teammate is more technically gifted.

Walker was being interviewed about the differences between certain players in England’s World Cup squad, when the defender was asked whether Mount was better on the ball than Foden. He replied:

“No [Mount isn’t better]. At [a] dead-ball situation [though] I would prefer Mase to be on the ball more than Phil.”

You only have to look at the statistics of the two players to see there is a discernible difference in terms of their performances. Despite being similar ages and having played a similar number of games for their respective teams, Foden comes out on top in key metrics.

In 189 appearances for City, the 22-year-old has scored 53 goals and laid on 36 assists, which means he averages a goal involvement every 2.12 matches. In contrast, Mount’s 69 goal contributions in 181 appearances means he averages a goal or assist every 2.62 games.
