Manchester City include surprise names on their pre-season tour

Manchester City have included a number of surprise stars in their squad as they prepare to begin their pre-season tour of the USA over the next couple of weeks.

Guardiola will be without several of his star players during City’s time abroad, due to their participation at the World Cup this summer. But it gives the Spaniard a chance to take a look at some of their lesser known talent.

Several names on the list who have travelled to America will be fairly unknown to the average fan, with the likes of Daniel Grimshaw, Aro Muric and Irish youngster Tyreke Wilson all being named in the squad.

Riyad Mahrez has travelled, and is expected to make his debut for the Blues in one of the upcoming fixtures. Surprisingly, Joe Hart has been included too alongside Claudio Bravo for the goalkeeping spot, with Ederson unavailable due to his World Cup commitments.

City will face Borussia Dortmund in Chicago on Friday, before playing Liverpool in New York next Wednesday and finishing their trip with a game against Bayern Munich in Miami on Saturday July 28. They then face a Community Shield battle with Chelsea at Wembley before the new season kicks off.
