Manchester City are weighing up a move for Benfica left-back Alejandro Grimaldo as a potential alternative to Marc Cucurella, according to reports in the Spanish media.
It is believed that the Spanish defender could cost as much as €20m (£17m), despite having less than a year left on his contract.
Earlier this month, when Arsenal and West Ham were also linked with Grimaldo, his valuation was reported to be as low as €7m (£6m), and fans on Twitter are not happy that Benfica are seemingly inflating their asking price:
20m for 1 year contract remaining is such overpriced too. I think jwe is enough for the back up if we couldnt find perfect replacement for zinny.

There’s no way City should be paying that much for Grimaldo. There are better options on the market who are available for similar figures, including the likes of Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa.
It should be noted that a second bid for Cucurella is still on the cards as well, so the club’s search for a new left-back is not expected to end any time soon.
