“Seriously, I Can’t” Rio Ferdinand Explains Why He Had To Change His Premier League Title Prediction

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand now believes Manchester City, rather than Chelsea, will win the Premier League this season.

The BT Sport pundit says the way that Pep Guardiola’s side dominated their opponents at Stamford Bridge last weekend has made him believe that the Citizens are the favourites to retain the title:

“I said Chelsea were favourites [for the title] a couple of weeks ago, but after watching them two – probably the best two teams in the league for the last six months – I can’t see past City. Seriously I can’t.”

Ferdinand really does flip-flop on his opinions so it is no surprise that he is now favouring City to finish top of the table. Why he doubted the reigning champions in the first place, is anyone’s guess.

Guardiola’s team may have lost out to Chelsea in the Champions League final last season but their consistency in league matches, and their experience of winning multiple domestic trophies, means they should never be written off.

City have another big test this Sunday when they travel to Anfield to take on rivals Liverpool, but you’d back them to put in another top-drawer away performance.
